Watching
is an artwork that I started quite early in 2007 with some other artworks and finally finished in 2010. My first 3 artworks were about faces in general and specifically as a construct. At the time I called the canvases "face building blocks". They sold relatively quickly.
Watching is the counterpart to these face bricks. Only in this painting can you see individual parts of the face that are hidden in nature: different eyes, a nose and an eyebrow, all of which speak for themselves. This face is hidden, it is meant to give the viewer the feeling that only one eye is enough to observe someone or something.
